How Do You Know When to Use Cellophane and When to Shrink Wrap?

The choice depends on the desired appearance and your budget.

Are you delivering the item by hand, or will it be shipped? Cello works well for a hand delivery, but if you are shipping, it may be best to shrink wrap the item for protection as it travels.

Your decision may also depend on budget. Cellophane easily extends from a roll for placement around a gift. Shrink wrap requires a heat gun for sealing purposes.

Why is Some Cellophane Wrap Thinner than Others?

Manufacturers make cellophane in a variety of grades. It's similar to one item branded with a generic name and another with a premium logo.

Cellophane sold to the general public in retail stores is usually thinner than cello sold to retailers through wholesale facilities.

If you want the premium version, it's wise to buy from a wholesaler or a facility that makes a better-grade product available.

Can You Shrink Wrap Cellophane?

Cellophane does not contain the same properties as shrink wrap, so if heated using a heat gun, cello will not tighten.

An informative video showing the difference between heating cellophane and heating shrink wrap is shown on the video page.
